(Jan. 7, 2009) -- One of the vehicles GM will auction off include a 1925 House Car, an early version of a camper made before RVs became commercially available. It has mahogany trim and maple floors and is built on a Chevrolet 1-ton chassis.

(Jan. 7, 2009) -- The motorhome is a 1980 Eldorado and is likely bearing Washington plates 551NUQ. The motorhome is 19 feet long and has a full-size door in the rear (an unusual feature). The vehicle may have been placed in a storage unit or parked in an RV park.

(Jan. 7, 2009) -- Imagine taking three young boys, loading them into one RV, and traveling 13,000 miles of open road over the course of eight weeks. Although it sounds like the pilot to a sitcom, it was a reality for the Tison family. The family of five left their home in East Knoxville in October, and pulled into their driveway one week before Christmas.

(Jan. 7, 2009) -- A 9-year-old boy was stuck and killed by an RV decked out in advertising for a city council political candidate. The RV was driven by a 22-year-old campaign worker driving with a suspended license.

(Jan. 5, 2009) -- "It took him about 10 minutes and he dumped his entire holding tank in the bay and then left," said Mike Barkis. He says the RV left behind an estimated 55 gallons of human waste. Barkis says the driver did it not once, but twice.

(Dec. 31, 2008) -- This month, RV maker Winnebago Industries Inc. in Iowa said all its workers, including Chief Executive Bob Olson, would take an unpaid week off during the current quarter, along with a two-week production shutdown during the holidays. Maplewood-based 3M Co. said early this month that it had ordered some workers to take vacation or unpaid time for the last two weeks of the year. Computer maker Dell Inc. in November asked employees to consider taking unpaid vacation days during the fourth quarter.

(Dec. 31, 2008) -- When the Good Sam Club started a discussion about awarding an RVer of the year each year, beginning with 2008, no one had to think too hard to decide where that honor should go. It went to Richard Daniels, a Georgia man whose travels introduced him to a dog and whose heart was so big he decided to help homeless animals in addition to giving that stray a good home.

(Dec. 30, 2008) -- The 2009 SuperShow will break the record for both manufacturer's space and supplier's booth space. "We will have more suppliers' booths than ever before and a record amount of manufacturer space," said Marketing Director David Kelly. "With the addition of new entertainment and more seminars, we're anticipating record crowds this year. We're also renewing the two-day pass so the public will have two full days to see everything at the SuperShow at no additional cost."

(Dec. 30, 2008) -- U.S. District Judge Kurt Engelhardt ruled a batch of lawsuits on behalf of hundreds of plaintiffs against the federal government and several trailer manufacturers can't be handled as a class action because each person's claim is unique and must be examined individually.

(Dec. 26, 2008) -- RV dealer Duane Spader, who has been in the business for 45 years, said he's weathered these cycles before. He said 1979 was a far worse downturn, and he's certain this downturn will give way to better times. "I think the general consensus is 2009 is going to be soft," he said. "In 2010, it will come roaring back. Every time we have this softness, the RV industry comes back stronger."

(Dec. 24, 2008) -- A Panama City man is lucky to be alive after his newly purchased, 34-foot RV caught fire while he was driving down Hwy. 79. The driver told Bay County Sheriff's deputies he purchased the RV just a few hours ago in Dothan for $8,000 and was driving it home.
