MAPLE GROVE, Sask. -- Half of the lots in the first phase of the first permanent RV development at the Centre Block of Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park were sold Nov. 26. Now the remaining lots are being sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
Blythman Agencies is selling the leases for the development company and Don Lewis said he is pleased with the results. “It was actually very good. You know, in April, we had lots more expectations, but with the turn of the economy, we’re happy,” he said.
“The interest is out there, we had 850 hits on our web page. It’s the season–people just aren’t into camping, but when the spring comes, we’ll sell-out,” said Lewis. “There’s no question they’ll sell-out.”
The Saskatchewan government granted permission to develop the site in the heart of the Centre Block, a first for the popular summer destination. The lots will be fully serviced with water, sewer, power, street lighting, and parking pads. Each is a minimum of 3,000 square feet and will be ready for use this spring. The second phase of development will begin sometime in 2009.
Each lease costs $30,000 for 10 years, but lease-holders have the opportunity to renew for an additional 10 years at a lowered cost of $25,000.
