LIVINGSTON, Texas – The RV Cooking Show recently launched an online food drive for the 2008 holiday season. Working together with RV Cooking Show blog readers to make a difference, the RV Cooking Show will donate one non-perishable food item for every comment left on the RV Cooking Show Online Holiday Food Drive blog .
Readers are asked to fight hunger across the U.S. by simply commenting anytime between now and Dec. 31 about what they are grateful for. Comments can be a single word, an illustrative story or anything in between and readers may comment up to three times per person/ per week. RV Cooking Show staff will donate food items to local food banks as they travel across the country and will post frequent updates on the blog.
Hunger affects 11.1 percent (26 million) of U.S. households equating to 36.2 million people – including 12.4 million children – according to the 2007 Department of Agriculture Food Security Report.
Campground owners/operators, industry partners, and RV/camping publications are urged to share this program with their customers, viewers and readers. RVers and campers are encouraged to comment and contribute to a hungry American’s dinner table.
“As an individual the odds of making a difference may seem daunting but there’s strength in numbers and we can make a dent in these astonishing stats. If we help even one family, one person, one child we will have succeeded. Our goal, however – with the help of the generous RVing community – is to help many, many more. I ask everyone to get involved and leave a comment,” remarked Evanne Schmarder, producer and host of the RV Cooking Show.
