RESTON, Va. -- Shipments from RV manufacturers to dealers fell 52.5 percent in October, according to figures released by the RV Industry Association today.
A total of 13,500 new units were shipped to dealers last month, down from 28,400 units shipped in October 2007. For the year, 225,400 units were shipped to dealers, compared to 309,500 for the first 10 months of 2007.
Motorhome shipments suffered the worst decline, falling 65.2 percent on a volume of 1,600 units, compared to 4,600 units in October 2007. For the year, motorhome shipments are off 44 percent with 26,900 units arriving on dealer lots compared to 48,000 during thesame period last year.
Towable shipments were off 50 percent last month on a volume of 11,900 units, compared to 23,800 units in October 2007. For the year, towable shipments are down 24.1 percent with 198,500 units shipping to dealers, compared to 261,500 units during the first 10 months of 2007.
