COEUR d'ALENE, Idaho -- RV industry consumer training veteran and hall of fame member Gaylord Maxwell died Saturday at 2 p.m., his family announced in a statement.
"Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed. Gaylord Maxwell will always be remembered for his lifetime commitment to family, friends and of course RVing," the statement read. "His final advice to us all from his last written column (in Motorhome magazine): ‘A reality is that you can have your cake and eat it too.’"
A native of Hayden, Idaho, Maxwell was founder of the RV Life on Wheel Conference, elected to the RV/Manufactured Housing Hall of Fame, authored “Home Sweet Motorhome” and “Fulltiming.“ He was also a longtime contributor to Motorhome magazine.
Maxwell is survived by his wife, Margie. A private family memorial service is planned for Sept. 26, 2008, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
