(July 31, 2008) -- The Microsoft Excel spreadsheet allows dealers to enter information regarding a customer's unique needs -- towing capacity, number of passengers and weight for fluids. The spreadsheet then calculates the reserve towing capacity and reserve cargo capacity.

(July 31, 2008) -- The mayor of Paonia, Colo., said if someone has property and a sewer line, the town would be more than happy to have them take over this function. There would have to be enough land so an RV could drive in, use the facility and pull through or turn around to exit. Past councils had wanted to get out of the RV dump site business, so it could be a potential money maker for a local business or organization.

(July 31, 2008) -- San Diego-based La Mesa RV Center is liquidating inventory at its Davis outlet and will close the store in the fourth quarter this year. The company in a written statement blamed "the continued economic downturn that has been prompted by the ongoing mortgage and financial crisis as well as the increase in gasoline and diesel prices."

(July 31, 2008) -- Some workers of Monaco Coach Corp. received a glimmer of hope when company officials left open the possibility that it might keep a joint venture chassis-building operation in Elkhart. Monaco President John Nepute told investors during a conference call that Monaco is working with partner International Truck and Engine, a subsidiary of Navistar, to determine the future of the plant.

(July 31, 2008) -- Cowlitz County spent $15,000 in vain this month to determine the source of a puddle of feces that, for two years in a row, has mysteriously appeared in the Hall of Justice parking lot. The mystery started last summer when the county’s workers cleaned up a large puddle of human feces in the court house parking lot, facilities director Ron Junker said. Junker figured at the time that a motorhome had dumped the material.

(July 31, 2008) -- The acceleration in economic growth in the second quarter of 2008 reflected a pick-up in personal consumption, which increased at a 1.5 percent annual pace, up from 0.9 percent in the first quarter. Spending was concentrated in non-durable goods, which rose 4 percent in the quarter, with spending on services rising 1.1 percent.

(July 31, 2008) -- Drew Industries Inc. today reported net income of $9.2 million, down 27 percent compared to net income of $12.6 million for the 2007 second quarter. Net sales in the second quarter of 2008 fell 18 percent to $151 million, from $184 million in last year's second quarter.

Net loss for the second quarter of 2008 was $9.7 million, or a loss of $0.33 per share, compared to net income of $4.5 million and earnings of $0.15 per share for the second quarter a year ago.
