(April 30, 2008) -- However, analyst Bob Simonson said that once the downturn ends, the pent-up demand for RVs will be "much more vigorous" than anyone is willing to predict. "Just as the length and depth of this downturn has been much greater than investors and managements anticipated, I think the rebound will be the reverse of that," he said.

(April 30, 2008) -- “RVIA will continue to take the high road regarding all of the unsubstantiated claims that RPTIA has made concerning the consumer-driven demand for larger RV travel trailers," said RVIA President Richard Coon. "There are serious issues currently facing our industry that require immediate attention to better serve our consumers; but when it gets to the point that RPTIA’s inaccuracies are confusing the public, then the record needs to be set straight."

(April 30, 2008), -- The first, or advance, estimate of first-quarter GDP indicated the economy managed to stay within positive growth territory, although just barely so, rising an annualized 0.6 percent. But, in Canada, a decline in the gross domestic products caught markets by surprise.

(April 29, 2008) -- The product was used on hydraulic disc brakes installed as original equipment on certain Doubletree trailers. The trailer wiring configuration of the circuit breaker allows high current to be continuously applied to the Actibrake even after the trailer circuit breaker is tripped and the 30-amp fuse on the Actibrake is blown.

(April 29, 2008) -- The Hoffman Estates board on Monday gave preliminary approval for an RV and boat show in August outside the Sears Centre arena. The outdoor event, dubbed the Contemporary Marketing RV Show, will likely be the first of others designed to make use of the Sears Centre grounds during slow summer months.

(April 28, 2008) -- After a steady string of declines, Coachmen pulls off a profit report in the middle of a down market. Coachmen's gross profits increased over 750 percent and our operating expenses declined by over 23 percent, on 7 percent fewer revenues. Through February, Coachmen posted 10.9 percent gains in Class C retail market share, 14.9 percent gains in travel trailers and an impressive 26.4 percent gain in fifth wheel retail market share.

(April 28, 2008) -- Total RV shipments fell 18.9 percent in March, according to figures released today by the RV Industry Association. A total of 30,100 units were shipped to RV dealers in March, compared to 37,100 units in March of 2007. For the year, 82,600 RVs were shipped to dealers compared to 93,600 in the first quarter of last year -- an 11.8 percent decline.

(April 28, 2008) -- The old law prohibits homeowners from keeping more than one boat, RV or trailer in their yards, unless they are in a shed or garage. The new proposal keeps the limit at one motor home per residence, but allows homeowners to keep an unlimited number of boats, trailers and other recreational vehicles that measure under 20 feet long.
