(Dec. 2, 2008) -- The Saskatchewan government granted permission to develop the site in the heart of the Centre Block, a first for the popular summer destination. The lots will be fully serviced with water, sewer, power, street lighting, and parking pads. Each is a minimum of 3,000 square feet and costs $30,000 for 10 years, but lease-holders have the opportunity to renew for an additional 10 years at a lowered cost of $25,000.

(Dec. 2, 2008) -- Divers have recovered the body of a maintenance worker at Viewpoint RV and Golf Resort who drowned after his lawn mower went into a golf course lake Monday. Mesa Deputy Chief Mike Dunn said the worker appears to have gone too close to the edge of the lake at the point of a sharp incline covered in wet grass. Dunn said it was unclear whether the mower rolled into the lake because of the incline or slid because of the wet grass.

(Dec. 1, 2008) -- A 28-year-old Sagle man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the Thursday night shooting of a man at the Travel America RV Park in Sagle, according to the Bonner County Sheriff's Department. Details of what transpired during the shooting that killed 30-year-old Elvin Holt have not yet been released.

(Dec. 1, 2008) -- The project will cost $2 million to build and take 75 days to complete. The elevated ground will have room for 74 RVs to park facing the backstretch, similar to what Las Vegas Motor Speedway has on its backstretch. An RV slot, or courtyard, will cost $15,000. Measuring 60 feet by 30 feet, the massive paved area sits over the backstretch seats and includes full service hook-ups for RVs, live TV feeds for races, wireless Internet, and a concierge to cater to your every need.

(Nov. 26, 2008) -- Several Texas campgrounds that cater to winter visitors are already booked up for the 2008-2009 winter camping season, and many others are filling up quickly, according to Texas Association of Campground Owners. “Winter reservations for campgrounds and RV resorts in Texas are as strong as they’ve ever been,” said Brian Schaeffer, executive director. He said Canadians, in particular, are flocking to the Lone Star State in record numbers, largely because of the relative strength of the Canadian dollar and because of the relatively low cost of spending the winter in Texas parks as opposed to parks in other pricier Sunbelt destinations, such as Florida and California.

(Nov. 25, 2008) -- Last week, Canyon Lake Campground may have been put out of business. The Mesa County Commission approved a conditional-use permit for the De Beque Gravel Pit LLC to begin excavating gravel from the 144-acre location in two phases over a period of 10 years. One of the conditions of approval requires the gravel company to close the RV park by the end of summer.

(Nov. 24, 2008) -- Police said it appeared that the girl attempted to cross the street behind the bus after it was pulling away from the bus stop. A white work truck had stopped for the bus at a stop sign facing south but began to head west after the bus turned off its flashing red lights and began heading east inside Sunrise Village. According to Griffin, after going over a speed bump as the two vehicles passed each other, the truck emerged from the other side of the school bus and struck Bates. Griffin said there appeared to be no way the truck or Bates could have seen each other.

(Nov. 24, 2008) -- The U.S. Small Business Administration is offering low-interest loans to those that lost sales because of either this year's heavy smoke or sub-freezing temperatures. Small businesses and most private, nonprofit organizations of any size may apply. The Economic Injury Disaster Loans are available because of disaster declarations covering Shasta, Trinity, Siskiyou, Tehama and 17 other northern counties. Applications are allowed not only for physical damage from wildfires, for example, but also the economic toll of lost business, administration spokesman Ron Foss said.

(Nov. 21, 2008) -- Twenty one campgrounds and RV resorts have earned all around “A” grades in the nation’s first consumer satisfaction survey of independent parks. Nearly 13,000 camping and RV enthusiasts participated in the 2008 online satisfaction survey, which evaluated guest experiences at independent campgrounds and RV resorts affiliated with the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds.

(Nov. 21, 2008) -- Officials have decided to double the capacity of the campground at Paul Wolff Forest Preserve to about 100 sites, and the Kane County Board on Wednesday dedicated almost $102,000 in land-cash funds for the improvements. With a total cost of about $400,000, according to district officials, the project not only will add campsites but also will provide new infrastructure such as parking, restrooms, and water and electric hookups, according to the application for land-cash dollars. Fifteen campsites will be relocated to secluded, wooded areas.

(Nov. 20, 2008) -- Bucking the figures from several other vacation spots in Arizona, Lake Havasu City’s warm climate is bringing in its part-time residents, as numbers from RV parks in the city remain consistent with last year. “We are pretty much full right now, as anticipated,” Ann Quiggle, manager of Islander RV Park said. “There are a lot of first-timers just driving in for the winter, which is unusual.”

(Nov. 20, 2008) -- The Lincoln County Board of Supervisors Monday voted unanimously to advertise for bids for the construction of a planned five-acre, 53-unit RV park, complete with water, sewer and electrical connections for the RVs. Optional amenities, such as a pavilion, rest facilities complete with men's and women's showers and a recreational area for children, are also being contemplated. Lincoln County Administrator David Fields said the tentative budget for the project is approximately $350,000, with a 50 percent matching grant of $250,000 from the Pearl River Basin Development District.

(Nov. 18, 2008) -- For the second time in four years, Lake Rudolph Campground and RV Resort in Santa Claus, Ind., received the National RV Park of the Year in the large park category (251-499 sites) from the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds. This year marked the campground's 50th anniversary.

(Nov. 17, 2008) -- In the Rio Grande Valley, the stock market bust that plunged gas prices cut little into reservations, park managers said. "Overall, it's better than expected, but not as good as last year," Karen Pike, a manager at Victoria Palms Resort in Donna, said of bookings across the Valley. But at her park, business was brisk, she said. In Harlingen, business slumped at Park Place Estates, said Phyllis Aten, a manager. Last week, Winter Texans filled 219 of the park's 859 sites, she said.

(Nov. 17, 2008) -- "This is the busiest inauguration we've ever had usually at this time of year we're not getting any calls it's been off the hook everyday, said Michael Raybourne, a spokesman for Cherry Hill RV park. But if you have an RV you also better hurry. Half of the hook ups at Cherry Hill are already reserved, and the rest are going fast. "We have over 400 sites and as of right now we have about 220 reservations and everyday we're getting a couple dozen more I wouldn't be surprised we would be sold out by the time January rolls around," Raybourne says.

(Nov. 14, 2008) -- A different kind of RV park is open in Gladewater, and it's offering more than just a place to hook-up to power. KLTV 7's Bob Hallmark has more on a fun RV park that gives visitors the feeling of being among friends. In years past, RV parks were quiet places. People would hook up to utilities and spend a day or two on the way to somewhere else. But now, check out this place. Antique Capital RV Park in Gladewater is what you might call . . . interactive.

(Nov. 13, 2008) -- The Coos County Board of Commissioners voted, once again, to approve an RV park just north of Bandon. And opponents have vowed, once again, to appeal the decision. The site plan includes 153 semipermanent park model RV spaces, sited on 25 of the site’s 43 acres. The project manager remains frustrated the plan seems bogged down with the process that started in 2007, while opponents are frustrated that the area will become too urbanized.
